Yes, sales of PS3 hardware have dropped by 82 per cent

It sounds too astonishing to be true, but PS3 sales are down a whopping 82 per cent in its second week of release in the UK, according to Chart Track.

Gameindustry.biz reports that Chart Track data is collected from aboutseven thousand retail outletsin the UK, which collectively represent 90 per cent of the software market. This includesGAME, Gamestation, Play.com, Asda and HMV.

“Yes, sales of PS3 hardware have dropped by 82 per cent,” a Chart Track spokesperson told the website. “We publish(ed) the first week figures because there’s such a clamour for them that we can’t keep it a secret.”

Just last week, PlayStation 3 broke records in the UK with sales topping 165,000 units.
