Britney Spears hit and runBritney Spears has not received much good news lately, but the pop star did have things go her way on Thursday.

Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Susan Speer dismissed her  misdemeanor count of hit and run after she was informed that Ms. Spears had paid $1,000 to cover the costs of her traffic boo-boo.

However, the driving without a license charge stills stands, and Britney’s lawyer Michael Flanagan entered a “not guilty” plea on her behalf.   According to the attorney, prosecutors are pushing to put her on a year’s probation for the misdemeanor.

“She got a license, she has insurance, has always had insurance,” Flanagan said outside the courtroom. “The question is: Is probation really necessary?”

That’s one for the court to decide.
