Bourne Identity starring Matt DamonThe Bourne Ultimatum, the third film in the popular series based on the Robert Ludlum novels, took first place at the U.S. box office with receipts of $70.2 million.  Not only was it the best opening in the Bourne series, but the movie had one of the best openings ever for Paramount.

All three movies have starred Matt Damon, with the first taking in $27.1 mill during its opening weekend, while Supremacy almost doubled that with $52.5 mill in receipts. 

The flick has also been a hit with the critics, scoring an impressive 94% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Damon will most likely appear onscreen next in Margaret, which was written and directed by Kenneth Lonergan.
