Paris Hilton Begins Her Jail Sentence

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton appeared at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards yesterday and had to endure cheers of joy when Sarah Silverman mentioned that she was going to jail.
A few hours later, Ms. Hilton surrended to authorities and will begin serving her 23-day sentence at Lynwood’s Century Regional Detention Facility.
“I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation. During the past few weeks I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes,” she said in a statement released by her attorney Richard Hutton.
“This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions. In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence.”
She had been sentenced previously for driving with a suspended license while on probation for a drunken driving charge.
