American Idol’s Katharine McPhee: ‘Go, Sanjaya!’

It appears that American Idol Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee is a big Sanjaya Malakar fan.
“First of all, I thinkSanjaya is an absolute phenomenon,” she said in an interview with Jam! Showbiz. ”Every year, there’s something that makes the show even bigger than it was the year before. I’m on the Sanjayatrain! I’m like, ‘Go Sanjaya!’”
If not for the show,Katharine McPhee might not be with us today.
“I do believe American Idol saved my life,” she confessed. “Finally, it felt like doors were opening for me and the dark clouds were separating. Making it to the finals really saved me. I was able to find what I was passionate about, which was important because the things you love in life will eventually overcome the demons.”
And she’s perfectly okay with having to prove herself to a few skeptics.
“There are certain challenges being from American Idol, like the (proving your) legitimacy thing, but there’s much less of that now. Look at Kelly (Clarkson) and Reuben (Studdard) and Jennifer Hudson — they’ve all sold records and it’s proving that real artists do come out of Idol. I’m grateful for that,” McPhee explained.
Kat is really cool and is always recognizing talent in her idol peers. She also has one of the CD’s worth having in my opinion, not to mention she was voted as the #1 sexy singer of idol in a poll. I look forward to see what Sanjaya comes up with. I agree with her and think Sanjaya has MUCH potential. It’s also typical for people that will become well liked and popular to get attacked in the news, so there seems to be a lot of truth in this. Even though he’s not the very best singer, many fans really like his voice and his attitude and personality.
I am also a big fan of Sanjay. The boy is absolutely wonderful. How many of the top 10 could really sing ? and how many were real stars and entertainers ? I don’t know what is this fuss about ? Week after week I just enjoy his performance. Go Sanjaya !
I absolutely agree. I think Sanjaya will win! And so he should. He’s different, he’s the performer that stands out from the rest - and not just because he’s the best singer, because Melinda is - but he sings well, he touches people - and more importantly, he’s got star quality!!!
The IT factor. I enjoy him week after week. Go, Sanjaya!
