Wii: We are at absolute maximum production and doing everything we can Nintendo Wii is “at absolute maximum production” and is still impossible to keep on the shelves. In fact, Nintendo could have sold the console for $50 extra if the company had wanted to go for the extra dough, according to Perrin Kaplan, Nintendos VP of marketing.

There was definitely that possibility,” she explained. “There are so many people who are very much liking the system and while the price that its at is very much mass market we probably could have folded at a higher price but I think that it was always Nintendos intent to make it a product that is appealing to the mass market.

Kaplan acknowledges that the supply and demand problem isn’t going to go away tomorrow.

“There is a lot going on behind the scenes in terms of working on what we are producing and the numbers continue to rise but the product is so very popular that we may see a supply / demand situation last for some time,” she said.
