Wii tops PS3 and Xbox 360 in Easter sales

In a surprising turn of events, during Easter week Wii had it’s third best sales since it debuted, outselling both PS3 and Xbox 360 by a substantial sum.

According to leaked Chart-Track figures acquired by Gamesindustry.biz, Nintendo Wiisales topped25,000consoles, whilePS3 sold 17,000 during the same time period.Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which has been out for over a year, sold a respectable 11,000.

“Last week was Wii’s third biggest sales week since launch. Everything we are shipping, we are selling,” said a Nintendo spokesperson. “Demand for the console is clearly huge and is exceeding supply…We are doing everything we can to get as much stock out there as possible.”

“Easter was the catalyst for the spike in sales,” he continued, explaining the upsurge. “It’s a traditional gifting week and that was definitely a contributing factor, along with the fact that there was more stock than usual.”
