Nintendo Wii Sales Quadruple PlayStation 3

Wii sold 83,754 units, compared to 19,996 for the PS3 Media Create numbers for the week of January 22-28 Wii sales are booming with no signs of letting up, especially in Japan– last month Nintendo Wii had been outselling PS3 by two to one. Those days are now long gone. For the week of January 22-28, Media Create’s figures show that Nintendo’s console is outselling Sony’s PlayStation 3 by a margin of four to one.

Here’s how the Japanese figures break down: The aforementioned Wii: 83,754 units. Sony’s PS3 sold 19,996consoles in the same amount of time. But both consoles lost out to the handheldDS Lite, which sold a whopping194,526 units. PSP also outsold PlayStation 3 with 35,700 sold altogether.

Naturally, Xbox 360 was the last of the bunch with a paltry 7,365total. No matter what Microsoft does, it seems that Japan just will not accept Xbox 360 in their households.
