Zune and Xbox 360 sittin’ in a tree…

Microsoft Zune and Xbox 360 compatibilityNot only will Zune be using Microsoft Points, the same currency used on Xbox Live Marketplace, but it will have other compatibility with Xbox 360 as well.

Points-wise, an individual song on Zune will set you back 79 Microsoft Points per track, which roughly converts to 99 cents. Looks like there’s not going to be a per-song price war between Microsoft and Apple…yet, anyhow. Unlike iTunes, a Zune Pass subscription will also be available at a cost of $14.99 a month. The pass will allow users to download from a library of millions of songs, according to Microsoft. Naturally, once the pass stops, the music dies as well.

And your Xbox 360 will work hand-in-hand with Zune, too.

“You can plug your Zune device into your Xbox 360 to stream music, pictures, and video, via USB cable, to enjoy all your Zune content on the TV in your living room,” wrote a Microsoft spokesperson to website Next Generation. “Additionally, you can connect your Windows PC to your Xbox 360 using Windows Media connect to stream your Zune content that way as well.”

Microsoft is keeping mum about the ability to transfer XBLM content from Xbox 360 to Zune, only stating “We dont have any further details to provide on Xbox 360 and Zune integration right now.”
