Jim Carrey and Steve Carell have been cast in the CGi-animated movie Horton Hears A Who, based on the much-loved Dr. Seuss book. Lamp lovin’ Carell will be playing the mayor of Who-ville, while Carrey will take on the role of the titular Horton. The two teamed up with solid results earlier in the film Bruce Almighty.
“At the heart of the movies that we make are the characters, and in Horton, Geisel has created a character with an unwavering moral center, a charming innocence, and a selfless willingness to protect others, even at his own expense,” said 20th Century Fox Animation president Chris Meledandri. “Geisel had one of the greatest imaginations of the 20th century, and Jim Carrey’s extraordinary talents are a wonderful match to Geisel’s vision. Steve Carell will not only be bringing his great comedic abilities to the role of the mayor but also his uncanny gift of finding the humanity in every character he plays.”
Steve Martino and Jimmy Hayward have signed on to direct “Horton” from a script adaptation written by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul. You’ve got enough time to catch up on the Seuss book; the flick is scheduled for release on March 14, 2008.
