Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay was cautioned by police after the 36-year-old singerwas involved in afracas with photographers outside of a London nightclub. Kay allegedly punched a photographer in the head three times and slapped another for good measure.

Virtual insanity, indeed.

Rowan Lawrence, a photographer at the scene, was baffled as to the cause of the violence. “There was no provocation for his actions and the guy had done nothing when Jay hit him around the face,”said LawrenceIronically, reports state that the singer thought that the photographers were waiting to snap pictures of him, when in fact they were waiting for Lindsay Lohan. Just when we thought there would be a celebrity news story that didn’t have to do with Linsday Lohan, she finds a way to slip back into the picture.

A spokesperson for Scotland Yard described the situation thusly:

“At approximately 2am this morning an officer on routine patrol in Upper John Street was alerted to a large crowd of people, including photographers, outside a night club. A man approached the officer and alleged he had been assaulted at the scene. He did not require hospital treatment. There are no further details about injuries. A man believed to be in his 30s was arrested in connection with the allegation and he has been taken to a central London police station where he remains in custody.”

Kay’s spokesperson has acknowledged that said man was indeed Kay. “I can confirm that Jay Kay was involved in an altercation with a photographer last night. He has been interviewed by the police and released with a caution.”
