Nokia Set To Name Phones Shortly
Published by Josh Foster September 11th, 2006 in Tech, Mobile Phones, PP.Taking a clue from rivals Motorola and LG, Nokia has announced that it plans to give phones names instead of numbers in the future. With the success of the Razr and Chocolate phones, Nokia is apparently hoping for similar successes.
“What you will see coming from us in the future is not just a numbering system, you are going to see names that carry a meaning and are important to consumers…because we think that is also very important”, explained Nokia’s marketing chief Keith Pardy at the recent Citigroup Global Technology Conference in New York. No details were given about when the newest phone with a name will be revealed, or what said phone’s moniker will be.
Pardy did acknowledge that the company has been “slow on the uptake” in terms of getting on the bandwagon of slimline handsets. “We are not happy that we are late with that, but it’s something we are working on,” Pardy continued.
“Going forward, if you don’t have some degree of thinness in your product, you are probably not going to be relevant in the marketplace.”
