Wii Virtual Console F-Zero X J.J. & JeffThe Wii Virtual Console got slightly fatter this week as two new (and yet…old) titles were announced.  Thankfully, one of the games available on the Wii Shop Channel is from the N64 — a platform which has been woefully underrepresented so far.

But on the other side, it does cost 1000 points.  So there’s that.   The announcement from Nintendo:

It’s a celebration this week as the VC proudly presents its 100th classic game! Make sure you’re in gear and ready to rev your engine to the max as F-Zero X, the 100th title on Virtual Console, launches this week. This futuristic racing game is the stunning Nintendo 64 sequel to the Super NES smash hit and will have you going hell for leather! Boasting 30 different hover machines to control and more than 20 tracks, all packed with jaw-dropping twists and turns to choose from, players must use the capabilities of their chosen vessels to spin and sideswipe opponents out of the way and take the glory in victory. With five different modes including Time Attack, Death Race Mode and multi-player VS mode, players will be spoilt for gravity-defying choice! Make sure you celebrate the 100th Virtual Console game in style and download F-Zero X for 1000 Wii Points.

Also up for grabs this week is J.J. & Jeff, a comical side-scrolling platform game originally created for the TurboGrafx. Players assume the role of either J.J. or Jeff, two bungling detectives, as they run, jump, kick or spray their way through six different levels to solve a kidnapping case. Players must defeat their enemies by cunningly using their spray paint, whilst also keeping an eye on their life spans which can be bolstered by finding hidden food throughout the levels. Get clued up with J.J. & Jeff on the Virtual Console this week for 600 Wii Points!

Nintendo’s Virtual Console has some of the greatest games of all time. Fans of classic systems have so far been delighted by games from the NES, Super NES and N64, including Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and the hugely popular Super Mario World. Also some of the world’s biggest game publishers have brought many of their greatest hits to Virtual Console, including Street Fighter II The World Warrior and Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts from Capcom, Castlevania and Gradius from Konami, and Galaga and Pac-Man from Namco Bandai.

In addition SEGA has also been treating its fans by releasing a host of popular SEGA MEGA DRIVE games which have so far included Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Gunstar Heroes. On top of this Hudson has been entertaining gamers with a selection of its best titles from Turbografx (PC Engine) including Bomberman ’93, R-Type, Super Star Soldier and Bonk’s Adventure.

nintendo is being very ignorant about the VC so far. they need to start thinking smart, releasing all these super nintendo, sega and classic games is good but it’s also stupid, the games most likely to sell are the N64 games. reason being because most players that were around when the super nintendo was created are probably close to 30 years old now, as if a 25-30 year old will buy a wii. where as those who played the N64 would still be around 16-20 years who would more likely buy a wii and Want to download games that were around when they were kids.
