Nintendo Wii Light Saber Star Wars Title Confirmed By Lucas?
Published by Robert Staehlin June 2nd, 2007 in Gaming, Wii.Did George Lucas inadvertently announce the much-anticipated Wii Star Wars title without realizing it?
According to a Nintendo Wii article on the website FIN24, it certainly would appear so. The tantalizing tidbit reads as follows:
The head of the LucasArts, the game division for “Star Wars” series creator George Lucas, told AFP a Wii game that lets players wield virtual light sabers is on the horizon.
What other game could possibly wield lightsabers except for a Star Wars title? The only other explanation would be that Lucas was referring to the upcoming Lego game, which would be an incredible letdown.
The Wiimote is almost custom-made for some saber action, so here’s to hoping we get some clarification soon as to what Georgie meant.
Oh yeah! Imagine an all-out light saber Jedi war with other people online. That would be the coolest thing ever. Swinging the Wiimote and testing each other’s reflexes and lightsabership from hundreds to thousands of miles apart. Aaaah, going back to fighting online with simple buttons and analog stick just wouldn’t be the same again.
The quote doesn’t say Lucas announced it, it says the head of LucasArts did, LucasArts being “the game division for “Star Wars” series creator George Lucas”.
Man i hope there really will be starwars game for wii, it would be awesome, but personnaly im a lil bit skeptical scince lucas arts stopped making games for the nintendo consoles.
dude im a dude u r a freak hahahaha girl pants wake up n smell da coffee
a wella wella wella oooooooo duk duk gooosssssee
Jim Ward is president of LucasArts, which would make him “head of the LucasArts.” The article doesn’t give a name, and is therefore not a viable source of info. This game is nothing more than a poorly-translated rumor until we hear it from either Nintendo or LucasArts.
And FYI, LucasArts did not stop making Star Wars games for Nintendo. One was released on GC within the last six months.
